Visit the Portico in Portferry and enjoy a performance
Whether you prefer popular or classical music, the Portico of Ards in Portaferry is welcoming back audiences after the long closure with two generous incentives.
On Sunday 22 May, there is an afternoon concert of piano duets, by the multi award-winning European pianists Amandine Savary and Coraline Cuenot, and it’s completely free! With a charming and accessible programme, it’s perfect for regulars or returners or completely fresh faces who’ve always wanted to give classical music a go. Portico has even provided a “nibbler’s guide” to the programme for four hands:
Ravel – Ma Mere l’Oye
Written to delight children, these five short pieces are from the ballet of the fairytale of Mother Goose.
Stravinsky – The Rite of Spring
Another piece written for the ballet, this is based on Russian folk music.
Brahms – A Selection of Waltzes
Clue’s in the title! (Dancing in the aisles permitted!)
Debussy – Petite Suite
It’s not about a small sofa (!) but based on poems about 19th century aristocrats on a countryside outing and sailing on a lake with romantic liaisons on their mind…
If classical is not your thing then why not enter the competition to win four free tickets to see the fabulous Essentially Cher show Sat 14 May? Cher tribute artist Trisha McCluney both sounds and looks uncannily like the younger Cher – complete with all that hair and those saucy outfits!
