Bangor Buccaneers Ready For The Start Of A New Season

Come along and see the Bangor Buccaneers in action

Did you know that Bangor has its own official Softball Team?

The ‘Bangor Buccaneers’ are a competing team in the Softball Ulster Sports League, and regularly go head-to-head against teams from all over Ireland.

Their first ‘home’ game is on Sunday 15th May at 2pm at Ward Park in Bangor. It’s free to attend. They will be battling the fierce Cyclones, a significantly strong team, but hopefully with the ‘home field’ advantage and local Bangorians cheering them on they will prevail victorious!

Club spokesman Daniel Macartney said: ” Founded in 2014, the Bucs are a co-ed slow pitch Softball team consisting of 20 male and 10 female players as of this year. They are always on the lookout for new members, so have a chat with them if you fancy it. They started out playing matches at Upritchard Park, Donaghadee Rugby Club, Bloomfield Pitches and since 2020 now very comfortably at home at our beautiful Ward Park.

“They would like to invite you to attend this first home game of the season. Bring the family, bring a picnic and enjoy a day of competitive Softball right on your doorstep. It’s non-stop action from start to finish!

“Ards and North Down Borough Council are organising nearby public toilet facilities at the Bowling Green to be made available, and an Ice Cream Van will be there most of the day. Softball & Ice Cream, what a day out!!

“For it’s one, two, three strikes you’re out at the old ball game!”
