Meeting with Superintendent Kee and PSNI officer Rosie Thompson regarding Victoria Avenue and other local concerns
Jim Shannon MP for Strangford has commented after meeting with Senior Ards and North Down PSNI officers regarding the anti-social behaviour in Victoria Avenue, Newtownards, that has seen residents living in fear and damage carried out.
He said: “I had met with local residents and then arranged a meeting with myself, Cllr Armstrong–Cotter (who had knowledge of what the problems have been). We had an open and frank discussion during which I made perfectly clear the serious concerns of the residents, and I was reassured that the case was still under investigation and that the PSNI were ready to attend the area at any stage.
“We outlined the issue that residents need more visible access to the PSNI and support, and we further discussed details that were new to the PSNI and received assurances of the progression on this ongoing case and investigation.
“It is clear that communities must be assured of support in ongoing scenarios like this and the PSNI at the most senior local level have indicated their desire to work with the community to ensure justice is served.
“I further outlined other issues which needed addressed and left the meeting with a way of progressing with these problems and that was a positive end to the meeting.”
