A sensory-friendly environment has been created within the swimming pool for children with autism and their families to enjoy. Fun floats will add enjoyment to the session.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin, encouraged families who could benefit from the sessions to take part. He said: “Physical activity is beneficial for those on the autism spectrum and can help with behaviours such as hyperactivity and aggression. I believe specialist sessions such as those planned by Down Leisure Centre can help improve children’s health and wellbeing.”

Booking is essential and available online only with limited spaces available.  Terms and conditions and normal admission criteria applies.
