Man Claiming To Clean Guttering Said To Be Entering Homes In Newry
Detectives are investigating after two reports of a man entering the homes of older people in Newry on the pretence of offering gutter cleaning.
The male was turned away when he called to the front door of a property in Loanda Crescent shortly after 11am this morning, however the occupant subsequently found he had entered the property via a rear door.
Thankfully she was able to chase him away.
Shortly before midday a second report was received. On this occasion the suspect managed to enter the home of an older man in Ardgreen Drive and make off with a safe and a bank card.
Both victims have been left extremely shaken.
Detectives are keen to hear from anyone with information and would also like to speak to anyone who believes this male may also have called at their address.

Detectives investigating recent burglaries at homes of older people in the Newry area have made an arrest.
A 29-year-old man was arrested yesterday evening, Saturday 5th October, in the city on suspicion of two counts of burglary with intent to steal.
He remains in custody at this time as enquiries into the investigation continue.
The arrest is in connection with a report of a man entering a property in the Loanda Crescent on the pretence of offering gutter cleaning, and also a burglary in the Ardgreen Drive area where a safe and bank card were stolen.
