Asda Downpatrick provides emergency supplies to community following disruption left from Storm Éowyn
Asda Downpatrick Community Champion Linda Owens has helped secure emergency funding from Asda’s charity, The Asda Foundation, to support people in the local community who have been affected by Storm Éowyn.
The store applied for funding to help buy essential supplies including milk, hot drinks, bread, water and snacks to donate to five community centres in the local area.

Down Leisure Centre, Ballymote Centre, Dan Rice Memorial Hall, Annsborough Community Hall and Castlewellan GAC all received groceries to distribute to the local community.
These centres have been offering drop-in services for local residents who were left with no electricity due to storm damage, offering them a safe space to warm up, grab a hot drink and charge their phones.
The Asda Foundation has pledged over £8,000 to community hubs and groups across Northern Ireland to help with essential items as thousands of homes remain without power, enabling emergency grants of up to £500 available per store across NI.

Community Champion Linda Owens said: “It was great to be able to chip in and help our local community and all the volunteers at the drop-in centres have been brilliant.
“Local residents who have been impacted by power cuts have been able to call in to get a hot drink, keep warm and charge their phones.
