Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of work on a £230,000 resurfacing scheme on the A25 Castlewellan Road next week. Resurfacing work on the 1.35km stretch of the A25 Castlewellan Road, Clough, from the Drumcaw Road is expected to start on Tuesday 18 March 2014. The first phase of the scheme is expected to be completed by Friday 28 March 2014. A temporary road closure will be necessary with through-traffic being diverted from 9.00am to 4.00pm daily from Tuesday 18 March to Friday 28 March 2014 excluding Sunday 23 March 2014. Diversions will be via the Castlewellan, Newcastle and Clough. Minister Kennedy said: “This £230,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Saintfield area. Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface.” Roads Service aims to keep disruptions to a minimum, however, delays should be expected and drivers are asked to be patient and allow additional time when planning journeys in the area whilst the road improvements are being carried out. With all work of this nature extreme weather can impact on the completion date. Roads Service will advise the public of any unexpected change to the schedule.
