Drift Masters Round Two Heading To Mondelo Park

Drift racing coming to Mondelo Park In Kildare

The Drift Masters European Championship (DMEC) is thrilled to announce its return to Mondello Park for the highly anticipated Round 2 of the 2024 season.

And later in August 2024 Round Four will be held at Bishopscourt Airfield near Downpatrick.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Ireland’s premier motorsport venue and home of Irish drifting, this event promises to deliver an exhilarating weekend of high-octane action on the legendary track.

Witness the elite of international drifting as renowned drivers battle it out for championship points and glory.

Reigning champion Cork-based Conor Shanahan is set on retaining his 2023 win of the series following a disappointing and unpredictable round 1 in Valencia in May.

An incredible lineup of international heavyweights are arriving to compete for the round win and points.

This includes Adam LZ from the US, Japan’s  Ryusi Akiba, Sweden’s Joakim Andersson, Portugal’s Diego Correia, the UK’s Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagoni and the man who broke Irish hearts with the win for the Irish round in Mondello Park, Poland’s Piotr Wiecek.

The homegrown talents Jack Shanahan, Duane McKeever, Fionn Roche and the rapidly emerging gifted Conor Falvey.

The second stage of the DMEC takes place at Mondelo Park. Legendary Cork man ‘The Machine’ Deane is returning as a wildcard entry for this event from competing in Formula Drift in the US.

He said: “Returning to Mondello Park is always a highlight of the season for me.

“The fans here are incredible, and the track really tests our skills. I’m looking forward to putting on a great show.”This year the event steps up to another level, along with a variety of fan opportunities including paddock access, meet and greet with drivers.

“There will also be a variety of food stalls, merchandise villages, glamping for the weekend with luxury bell tens, a pamper parlour and private bar.

“The challenging reverse layout of the Mondello Park track is both loved and loathed by drivers with its technical layout with it’s challenging corners and sweeping bends, it’s the perfect arena for drivers to show display their precision and skills.

“The tracks unique reverse configuration promises spectacular battles and edge of the excitement for motorsport fans and is a legendary venue in European drifting.

“We’re excited to bring Driftmasters Round 2 of the championship here, the atmosphere is electric and fans travel from all over the world to be here, it is great to have an event of this scale here in Ireland” said Managing Director Roddy Greene.
