After the previous weeks league win over Aughlisnafin, the Under 16s last week then followed this up with their best football of the season with a championship win over the same opposition on a scoreline of 8-14 to 4-11. This Thursday they are at home to Ardglass. Training for the Under 16s on Sunday from 12.00pm to 1.30pm.

Our Under 10s played a home blitz at home on Saturday with 12 eager players that played to their full potential. Six teams were there on the day and all teams played three matches each. Our first was against Teconnaught which was a real hard match. The players hadn’t played in five weeks and it took to the second half before they got into their stride. Carryduff were the next game and we had to give two players over to make up the numbers. In the first half the player of the match was Oran in goals for Carryduff. He pulled of some great saves for them against us. Aaron, Sam and Aide knew in the second half to go for their points.

The last game was against Teconnaught and again Donal, Conor and Adam were brilliant in defence. Sam kicked some great passes in to our forward line of Clare, Kity F and Patrick who in turn took some great scores, both points and goals. The team on Saturday was Donal, Owen, Claire, Dara, Conor, Aaron, Sam, Patrick, Kity F, Aiden, Adam and Oran. Well done to the St Johns Under 10s on Saturday. Training on Tuesday night with a tournament on the following Saturday. St Johns would like to see all parents that can make it to the tournament on Saturday to give their support to this Under 10s team. Details will be given out on Tuesday night.

The Under 8s were also in blitz action in Annsborough against hosts Aughlisnafin, Drumaness and Bredagh. With 16 players they split the squad into 2 teams to ensure the players got maximum game time. Thanks to the parents for their support and to The Fin as hosts.

The cost is approximately £20 and would comprise the cost of the bus, admission to Dundalk Stadium, a Race Card, Premium Reserved Bar Seating and Finger Food followed by after race entertainment. Contact Mary Boyle for more details.

The Kevin O’Hare Memorial Match between the East Down Camp JMac and the South Down Camp JMac will take place on Sunday 6 September at 1.00pm at St Johns.

The upcoming weekly cleaning rota for the clubrooms is Claire Addis’s group for week commencing 30 August.

Deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Eileen Flanagan, Castlewellan and Madge Ferris, Drumaness.
