Jim Shannon, MP for Strangford, has congratulated the Comber Tandoori restaurant which has been chosen to represent Strangford constituency as one of the 13 National Finalists in the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition.
Mr Shannon said: “The Grand Final of the Tiffin Cup 2015 is to be held in the House of Commons on Wednesday 27th October 2015. The competition is held each year to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.”
The Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants that have been nominated by local MP’s. This year, 121 restaurants were nominated by their MP’s. Comber Tandoori was nominated by Jim Shannon MP.
Keith Vaz MP, Chair of the Tiffin Club, said:” “We are delighted that Comber Tandoori has beaten extremely stiff competition in order to become one of the finalists of the Tiffin Cup on 27 October. This is a great tribute not just to the nomination of Comber Tandoori but also to the constituency of Strangford as a whole. We wish them the very best of luck for the final.
Jim Shannon MP added: “I am delighted that Comber Tandoori has made it to the final of the Tiffin Cup 2015. This is such a prestigious award and I will certainly be there on 27th October to cheer on Comber Tandoori and I am sure everyone in Strangford will be rooting for our restaurant to be crowned 2015 champion.”
