STRANGFORD MP Jim Shannon MP met with Arlene Foster DETI Minister along with fishing representatives to discuss the Wind Turbine Proposal by First Flight Wind in the Irish Sea.
[caption id="attachment_32374" align="alignleft" width="360"] Strangford MP Jim Shannon has organised a meeting with Portavogie fishermen and First Flight Wind.[/caption]He said: “Fishermen has expressed their concerns that the windfarm development will affect the prawn fishing boats out of Portaviogie, the main fishing village in my constituency.
“That these Wind Turbines have been proposed to be in a prime prawn fishery is of deep concern and while there has been some indications suggested that prawn fishing can continue, in my inquiries with other fishing communities it is clear that fishing will not continue but will instead stop and that just can’t be allowed to take place.
“I have requested a meeting with First Flight Wind consortium and that will take place on 19 October in the Training Rooms at Princes Anne Way in Portavogie.
“I would urge all fishermen to attend as this is a chance to see and hear what is proposed.”
