Jim Shannon MP for Strangford has highlighted the workshop to outline funding opportunity for fishing dependent communities.
“I received notification that the South East Area Fisheries Local Action Group is holding a series of drop in information sessions to provide information and guidance for potential applicants of European Maritime and Fisheries Fund. There is scope to be considered under EU Priority 4 which focusses on economic growth, social inclusion, job creation and supporting labour mobility in coastal and inland communities who depend on fishing or other types of marine based work.
“This of course means the community of Portavogie in the Strangford constituency and possibly even the surrounding villages will have a chance to bid and this information workshop gave guidance on how best to access this fund.
“The workshop for the area took place in Portavogie on Wednesday and I am told there was interest in the event which was great! This is a chance for funding to help the community who have been so effected by European Union rules and it is great that community projects can get something back from all that was taken from them.”
There will be a SEAFLAG workshop in Ardglass Golf Club, on Tuesday 19th February, 11am – 3.30pm.
