Margaret Ritchie, MP for South Down, has shared her delight at The National Lottery that the The National Lottery is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of its launch.
Ms Ritchie explained South Down has received £33,966,594 in National Lottery funding benefiting 1,117 projects over the past twenty years.
She added: “The fact that £33,966,594 of National Lottery funding has benefited projects right here in South Down, is a most welcoming announcement. This includes £2,645,811 in charitable expenditure in the area, £2,792,765 in the Arts, £2,932,119 in millennium related projects, £2,653,413 in Health, Education and the Environment, £2,653,413 in sporting projects and a huge £10,767,487 in heritage related projects.
“Over the past 20 years, funding from The National Lottery has gone to great causes here in my constituency and many projects over a range of areas has significantly benefited from the £33,966,594 funding it has provided.
“The National Lottery funding and the projects that have benefited from this funding have gone on to change the lives of individuals and communities in the South Down, and I hope that our community projects continue to benefit from The National Lottery Funding in years to come”.
