SOUTH Down MP Margaret Ritchie MP is holding an information event on Friday 26 October at the Ballymote Sports and Wellbeing Centre from 1-3pm.
Ms Ritchie said: “In these tough economic times, many households are struggling with heating costs, household bills and daily living expenses. With rising costs and decreasing incomes, many people are finding it increasingly difficult to balance their household budgets.
“Help, however, is available. It is crucial therefore that people are made aware of support and assistance accessible to them through a wide range of government bodies.
“I am holding this information session to make these details, on benefit uptake, pathways back to work, rates relief, housing and many other pivotal issues which people require support and advice on, available to all.
“There will be a number of agencies at the event to provide first hand information and support to people, along with a number of presentations on changes to the welfare system, benefit uptake and careers/further education.
“I would encourage everyone who feels they may be entitled to additional benefit, who is interested in returning to work or further education or who wants more information on heating their home to make a special effort to attend this event. All are welcome.”
Attending the event will be the NI Housing Executive, Land and Property Services, Department for Social Development, Department for Employment and Learning’s Careers Services, Citizens Advice Bureau, the Warm Homes Scheme, Advice NI, Down District Home-Start, and the South Eastern Regional College.
