Sinn Féin representative for the Rowallane area and local election candidate Eddie Hughes, has welcomed a seizure of drugs by the PSNI from the Listooder Road area of Crossgar on Wednesday.
[caption id="attachment_36217" align="alignleft" width="330"] Cannabis estimated with a street value of £17000 has been seized by the police in Crossgar.[/caption]Speaking following the find, Mr.Hughes commented: “I want to welcome the seizure of what is a substantial amount of drugs by the PSNI. £17,000 worth of herbal cannabis has now been taken off the streets of Crossgar and the surrounding area.
“The public in Crossgar are shocked that this type of criminality has been taking place in their area and they are extremely relieved that this seizure has taken place.
“Drugs are a scourge on our communities, especially on our young people and anything that can be done to curb drug abuse in the Down District area should be done.”
Mr.Hughes added: “I want to congratulate the PSNI for carrying out this successful operation, this as well as the £10,000 seizure of herbal Cannabis in Downpatrick recently, will go a long way to cleansing our streets of unwanted drug dealing.”
