Newry Mourne and Down District Council supports the retention of services at Slieve Roe House in Kilkeel and has called on the Southern Health and Social Care Trust and the Minister for Health, Social Services and Public Safety to remove the threat of closure contained the in Trust’s current “Proposal for the Future of Statutory Residential Care for Older People”. This document, which is currently out for consultation proposes the closure of Slieve Roe on a phased basis over the next few years.
The Council is hosting a Public Meeting to give the people of Kilkeel an opportunity to have their say about this proposal, which will be fed back to the Trust by the Council.
