Local Artists lead the way in supporting WaterAid with UK’s First Virtual Fundraising Ball.
Singer Ryan McMullan, Paddy Raff and Sarah Travers are involved in the great line up of acts.
NI Water is excited to announce that its local WaterAid NI Committee is hosting the first virtual fundraising ball in the UK and supporting our own local talent.
The WaterAid NI Lockdown Ball, which is one of Northern Ireland’s most glittering annual events, will be held virtually on Friday 13th November 2020.
With the impact of COVID 19, many events have been cancelled and live artists need to find new ways to entertain. So, with Paddy Raff, Ryan Mc Mullan and Sarah Travers agreeing to entertain us, the WaterAid NI Committee is delighted to announce that NI can go to the ball!
Alongside industry partners, NI Water has proudly supported the work of the international charity WaterAid for over 35 years, and since 2015, its local committee has raised over ÂŁ300,000 for the charity.
Recently, funds have been dedicated to a project in Malawi, which aims to improve the health of women, girls and children by providing access to clean water, decent sanitation and good hygiene in their communities.
Sara Venning, NI Water’s Chief Executive and President of WaterAid NI said: “The WaterAid ball is the highlight of our annual fundraising calendar, when we usually gather together in person at a black tie ball for a great night of fundraising.
“With key support from our dedicated industry partners, last year we raised almost ÂŁ45,000, which goes an extremely long way in helping bring safe water, sanitation and toilets to many people in our link country projects in Malawi.
“We decided to do things a bit differently this year, and as well as raising funds for this worthy charity, we also wanted to support our local talent in the entertainment and wider events industry, who have been adversely impacted by restrictions in recent months.”
The lockdown ball will be an exciting virtual event full of music, comedy, prizes and fundraising and guests will receive a link to join online in the comfort of their own home.
A basic ticket price for the event is set at ÂŁ30 per person and can be purchased as a single ticket or as part of a corporate package.
Don’t miss out and e-mail SNI@wateraid.org for more details.
Local presenter Sarah Travers will host the event, as well as some exciting entertainment along the way, including fabulous music from County Down’s very own Ryan McMullan who recently supported Ed Sheeran on his recent Divide tour and is preparing for his own European tour.
The icing on the cake will be a stand out comedy set from the one and only Paddy Raff, who has taken the internet by storm this year and has recently launched his own BBC NI TV show!
NI Water and its industry partners are committed to fundraising and supporting local talent and the entertainment industry, despite the current restrictions with the ongoing pandemic.
The need for funds is critical and the crucial role of clean water and good hygiene has never been more essential in the fight against COVID-19.
Public health is impossible without access to water, soap and hygiene services for frontline health workers, their patients and communities – this is a complex task in parts of Malawi where 1 in 3 people don’t have access to clean water and 9.6 million people have no decent toilet.
NI Water is proud to help WaterAid achieve its goal – working towards a world where everyone, everywhere has clean water and decent sanitation.
The NI Water fundraising would not be possible without key sponsorship and support from our fantastic headline sponsors including: BSG Civil Engineering, Echo Managed Services, Meridian Utilities, Morrow Contracts, Graham Construction, McAdam Design, Dawson WAM, Farrans Construction, Kier, and Lowry Building & Civil Engineering Ltd, with many more to be announced in the weeks ahead!
