Newcastle To Host Sizzling Summer Entertainment

Sizzling Summer Entertainment Live in Newcastle This July & August

Things are definitely hotting up this summer with a host of exciting summer entertainments in Newcastle.

Summer Nights at Newcastle Summer Season offers a variety of live theatre events and music performances every Friday and Saturday night throughout July and August at Newcastle Community Cinema, St Mary’s Hall, Main Street, Newcastle.

Opening a season of entertaining theatre on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July is the ever popular Belvoir Players with ‘Sink or Slim’ a hilarious Ulster comedy by Sam Cree. ‘Further Ted’ on Friday 20th July brings two of the most memorable characters from Father Ted together for a night of stand-up and musical comedy. Bart Players make a welcome return on Saturday 28th July with uproariously funny spoof comedy ‘Fool’s Paradise’.

Hot on its heels on Saturday 4th August is Oscar Wilde’s critically acclaimed comedy ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’ performed by South Bank Playhouse. Following a successful summer season debut last year, Blaris Players are back again on Saturday 18th August with ‘St Jude’s Ward 10’, a mad cap comedy set in the fictional town of Ballyturbut. Bringing Summer Nights to a close on Friday 24th August is ‘History of the Peace (accordin’ to my Ma)’ the sell out sequel to the smash hit comedy ‘The History of the Peace (accordin’ to my Da)’.

Newcastle Glees Musical Society kicks off a summer full of music on Saturday 14th July with ‘Summer Song from Broadway & Beyond’ featuring fabulous music and songs from musicals.

‘The Illegals with Niamh Kavanagh’ makes their annual appearance on Saturday 21st July, cooking up a storm in an entertaining three hours of vocal harmony and superb musicianship. On Friday 27th July, take a nostalgic trip back to the dance hall days with ‘Soda Popz’, Northern Ireland’s only 1950/60’s Rock n Roll band. Exceeding all expectations of ABBA tribute bands, with their stunning exact replica costumes, vocal likeness and ABBA style choreography, it’s ‘Bjorn Identity’ on Friday 3rd August. Taking to the stage on Friday 10th August is ‘The Elvis Spectacular’ show fronted by Ciaran Houlihan and featuring a live 8 piece band with the Sweet Sensations. Rounding out the music season on Friday 17th August is ‘Box Car Blues Brothers’. With all the hits from the movie, this is a high energy soul, rhythm and blues revue you won’t want to miss!

Evening performances will all take place in Newcastle Community Cinema

and start at 8pm with bar facilities from 7pm.
