SEAFLAG Public Information Workshops For Fishing Communities

SEAFLAG will be running a number of workshops as the £2.3 million funding package opens up for County Down fishing communities.

There will be a series of public information meetings taking place between Monday 25th and Wednesday 27 June organised by the South East Area European Fisheries Fund, Ards and North Down Borough Council, Newry Mourne and Down District Council, and DAERA.

A £2.3 million funding package is available for the County Down fishing communities and there is expected to be considerable interest. It covers areas where commercial fishing has sustained communities and where it has provided employment.

A fisheries local action group (SEAFLAG) has set up a sustainable strategy for the fishing-related areas and this body made up of representatives from local government, the fishing industry and from other relavant sectors.

Business and community groups are invited to attend the information sessions.

The sessions take place on:

Monday 25 June, Ardglass Golf Club from 3-5pm and 7-9pm.

Tuesday 26 June, Kilkeel Leisure Centre, 3-5pm and 7-9pm.

Wednesday 27 June, Portavogie Community Centre, 3-5pm and 7-9pm.
