South Down SDLP MLA Colin McGrath has welcomed the social housing development proposed for Ballyhornan and said: “Following Ark Housing Association’s recent community consultation event, I am delighted that the Northern Ireland Housing Executive has confirmed that the whole scheme will be built and allocated at once.
Mr McGrath said” ” Prior to the Community Consultation Event, Ark were of the belief that the 13 houses would be constructed and allocated in 2 different phases, however, following the very positive response that they received in Ballyhornan, they are proceeding with the construction in one phase.
“This is very welcome news. Ballyhornan is crying out for additional units. The demand in this area is high and once built these homes will make a big contribution to the local community.
“The Planning application is currently being finalised and will be submitted soon. I look forward to its approval and work commencing on site,”
Cllr Gareth Sharvin added: “The news from Northern Ireland Housing Executive is greatly welcomed. The development will go a long way of addressing the housing requirements in the Ballyhornan area.”
