The charity is even attempting to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by staging the ‘World’s Biggest Tombola’. And the good news is that it’s not too late to register your team of warriors for what promises to be an epic battle! '4R's In The Park'."][/caption] Mainstay DRP’s looking for teams of up to 10 members to take part in the race against time to become victorious raiders. The fastest team wins, but there’ll also be a prize for the best dressed rowers on the day. Helen Taylor, the charity’s Chief Executive, said the event is a great way for family, friends or work-mates to get together while raising money for a very worthy cause. “The Raiders Challenge promises to bring great excitement to Castlewellan Lake for both participants and spectators,” Helen said. “It’s only fitting that we would incorporate a Viking theme into our inaugural festival ‘4Rs In The Park’ given the historic link they have with the area. There’s still time to register your team, get your costumes ready and take part in what will be a wonderful day out for all the family at Castlewellan Forest Park.” All the funds raised on the day will go to Mainstay DRP’s long term fundraising project ‘Building The Dream’ which aims to raise £3million for a purpose built centre providing state-of-the-art facilities for adults with a learning disability. Helen added, “By taking part in the Raiders Challenge, the teams are helping us raise vital funds for this project and will take us one step further to reaching our target,” Already taking part in the challenge are teams from sponsors Down District Council and First Trust Bank to name but a few. Down District Council’s Chairman, Councillor Dermot Curran said, “Down District Council is delighted to be sponsoring the Mainstay DRP’s ‘4Rs In The Park’ fundraising event. “We recognise the valuable work undertaken by Mainstay DRP, one of our most active local charities. This event will take Mainstay DRP closer to realising the goal of a new centre. “The Viking longboat races are one key part of this amazing event that I am particularly looking forward to. I am pleased to say that Council staff will also be teaming up to compete in the longboat challenge along with all the other teams,” he added. “Good luck to everyone participating, and I hope all competitors and spectators at the event in Castlewellan Forest Park have a wonderful day.”]]>
