Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that work on a resurfacing scheme on the A24 High Street, Ballynahinch, will start on Monday 17 August 2015.
The scheme will involve the resurfacing of a 240metre stretch of High Street from and including the Dromore Street roundabout to Main Street/Lisburn Street junction.
Minister Danny Kennedy said: “This £85,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Ballynahinch area and will compliment the recently completed Ballynahinch Public Realm works.
“Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long-term benefits from the new road surface along the street.”
To facilitate the resurfacing works and minimise disruption the street will be closed from 8.00pm to 6.00am during the period from Monday 17 August to Friday 27 August 2015.
The works will be carried out in three stages:
* Windmill Street to Church Street. * Windmill Street to Main Street. * Lisburn Street to Main Street eastbound.
During the works traffic will be diverted via A49 and B177 Lisburn Road, U0030 Riverside Road, B7 Dromore Road and Dromore Street, U0167 Grove Road, B175 Spa Road, A24 Church Road and Church Street.
Transport NI aims to keep disruptions to a minimum, however, delays should be expected and drivers are asked to be patient and allow additional time when planning journeys in the area whilst the road improvements are being carried out.
With all work of this nature extreme weather can impact on the completion date. Transport NI will advise the public of any unexpected change to the schedule.
