Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that work on a road improvement and resurfacing scheme on the A24 Newcastle Road, Seaforde is now underway.
The scheme involves the provision of a right turn lane at the Newcastle Road /Loughinisland Road junction and the resurfacing of a 1.4kilometres stretch of the A24 Newcastle Road. Work is expected to be substantially completed by Friday 18 April. However, work will be necessary under traffic control and road closure at a later date, details of the arrangements for the completion of the scheme have yet to be finalised. Danny Kennedy said: “This £270,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Seaforde area. “Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface along the stretch and improved road safety at the Newcastle Road/Loughinisland Road junction.” Roads Service has planned the improvements to keep disruptions to a minimum, however, delays should be expected and drivers are advised to allow additional time when planning journeys in the area.]]>
