Hinch 3's Overpower Dungannon 3's

Ballynahinch 3’s v Dungannon 3’s – Crawford Cup Match Report

(Mark McCormick reports from Ballymacarn)

Ballynahinch 3’s 57 Dungannon 3’s 10

dn_screenBallynahinch 3’s took on a strong Dungannon 3’s team at Ballymacarn on Saturday in the first round of the Crawford Cup competition.

With both Dungannon 1s and 2s without matches, Hinch 3’s knew that they would be facing a strengthened Gannon 3s, although the County Down men were up to the task and turned the occasion into a very one sided affair..

In, what was a hard fought contest in the early stages, a strong Ballynahinch side consistently took the game to the visitors, who defended well early on and even got on the score board twice, through simple defensive errors on the part of the Ballymacarn men.

After a stern talking too behind the posts from incumbent Captain – Mark McCormick, the Ballynahinch team came out on the front foot and Dungannon were left with no response to a fired up home team, who ended the game with six different scorers earning 45 points and the ever reliable Robbie Irvine kicking another 12 points.

There were scores for Paddy Wright who got a very credible hat trick, Andrew Harper with a brace and single tries for Ryan Smyth, Keith Dickson, Aaron Samuels and Johnny Murdock.

Overall, an extremely commendable start to the Ballynahinch 3rd XV Crawford Cup campaign.
