Petty Youth, releasing their four track EP today are a garage rock band from around Downpatrick and Crossgar in Northern Ireland and are making a big impression following up on their earlier self-recorded singles.
Formed in 2013 by Eoghan Johnston, they have been unleashing their caustic brand of blues-soaked, glam-tinged and punk-wrought garage rock ‘n’ roll on gig-goers and festival audiences across the UK and Ireland ever since.
Steeped in a strict DIY ethic, Petty Youth have released a number of self-recorded singles in the true garage rock tradition, many of which have received significant airplay on both national and international radio stations. Gaining a reputation as a formidable live act, Petty Youth specialize in delivering hard-hitting, ‘balls-to-the-wall’ performances that have been lauded widely by critics:

What the critics said:
STUART BAILIE (BBC RADIO ULSTER) “The essence of everything that’s fearless, dirty and mean… They remind me of The Hives and that’s a good thing!”
GIGGING NI “Petty Youth demonstrated why they are one of the bands to watch at the moment… (they) didn’t just play on the stage, but shattered it”
CHORDBLOSSOM “Sounding as big and epic as The Hives”
SOUNDS OF NORTHERN IRELAND “One of the finest live bands on the NI scene – gutsy, ballsy and authentic garage rock’n’roll with highly memorable tunes.”
TERRI HOOLEY, GODFATHER OF BELFAST PUNK “Yis’ were too loud!” [sic]
