Bangor 10K proved popular with the East Down AC runners
Bangor 10k Road Race
On Saturday saw the annual running of the very popular Bangor 10k. The race is part of The Cinema Coffee 10k Grand Prix race series.
The race starts in Castle Park near the front of the Town Hall and finishes in Ward Park.
The race has attracted Olympians such as Paul Pollock and marathon Champion Laura Graham, local athletes, new athletes and wheelchair participants in the past.
EDAC had three athletes hitting the roads around Bangor, it is a flat course with a short hill at 9k, making its way through the town centre along the coast road to Groomsport and back to ward Park.
Jacob Crawford was first home, Jacob has been in great form of late and put in a PB run of 36 min 40 sec.
Coach Paul Burns was next in and will be happy with his time of 38 min 33 sec after some injury issues, always good to get back on the road.
Aine Grant was the only EDAC lady on the start line, Aine prefers the 5k but stepped up to the longer distance and put in a time of 55 min 39 sec.
Some great running against some strong competition.
Annaghmore Running Festival
Also on Saturday Morning in County Armagh saw the Annaghmore running Festival.
The Festival hosts a large array of races, namely an 18 miler, Half marathon, 10k, 5k and 1k Fun run/Walk. And many local athletes use the 18 miler and half marathon as build up training for the Dublin Marathon.
East Down AC had three runners in the 18 mile race.
First home was Niamh Kellet with a great time of 2 hr 14 min 03 sec closely followed by pacer Barrie Atkinson 2 hr 14 min 33 sec, not sure who was pacing who.
Eamon Kelly was the third red and yellow vest across the line in 2 hr 22 min 30 sec.
The only other runner was Paul Lloyd in the Half Marathon. He will be happy with his time of 1 hr 39 min 05 sec on a tough hilly course and with a head cold did well to cross the finish line with a great time.
McGrady’s Financial Series.
