Mason says EA transport issues must be resolved for students
Speaking following more contact with parents on school transport issues, South Down Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason said:
“Ongoing issues for students travelling to and from Castlewellan to Kilcoo are causing unnecessary pressure for families.
“In the morning, three direct buses are available from Kilcoo but only 2 in the afternoon.
“Disruption to these direct services means younger students are forced to travel a longer route home, adding a considerable length of time to their journey.
“This isn’t fair on students and the EA must act and work to meet the demand in the area and ensure direct services are available for those who need them.
“Our rural communities cannot be left behind.
“I will continue to work with the Education Authority to see these services are delivered.”
