DOWN Funeral Directors is a new and comprehensive funeral service recently opened in Downpatrick which serves the wider Lecale area up to Carryduff.
The family business headed by proprietor Patsy Fitzsimons have renovated and refurbished a new funeral premises in John Street in Downpatrick to provide an independent, modern, personal and professional service to families to have sadly experienced bereavement.
Patsy Fitzsimons, well-known throughout the area, said: “We provide a complete and flexible package for funerals making that difficult time for families easier and more comfortable to manage.
“Whether you wish a religious or non-religious ceremony, a church or cremation funeral, we can arrange that for you with music, readings etc to reflect the life of the deceased. Our task is to help with these practical arrangements.
“When someone comes to us to discuss funeral matters, we have a dedicated bespoke meeting room which is very private and it is always our aim to provide a funeral to the needs of our clients. Some people actually pre-pay their funerals and set out exactly how they want it done.
“This takes a lot of pressure off grieving relatives. We are happy to talk to anyone about this arrangement at any time. This option is covered by the Funeral Planning Provider Golden Charter ensuring an excellent and timely service is delivered.

Patsy said: “A death in a family is always a traumatic event and it is our role to make this tragic time easier for the family by assisting with the funeral planning where possible. Sometimes someone may pass away while distant from their home and we can make arrangements too for the remains to be returned to the home or to our rest home in Downpatrick.
“At the Down Funeral Directors rest home there is also a range of coffins to view. We also help out in matters such as with notices in newspapers, floral tributes, and also helping to record a death. There is usually much to be done when a bereavement occurs and our aim is to help families get through this difficult and often very emotional time.”
