Castlewellan GAC Notes For 2 February 2014

*Well what a week it’s been. Ever since it is being muted that this year’s Annual Awards night will take place in the Club on Saturday 17 February, there has been an unprecedented scramble for tickets. Queues have started to form already outside the club. First in the line are Brian & Margaret King. Brian doesn’t miss a dinner dance but fears he will lose out because of the demand writes MArtin McClean.

A man well used to being up early and suited and booted for all weathers he told me: “Margaret and myself love this night in the year, a night not to be missed. Our sons Ronan and Conor are keeping the food and drink in the form of burgers and hot toddies, I mean there is no other event like this that anyone would be silly enough to queue up for day and night now would there!. I’ve got friends in these sort of places…” Tickets are available from Kevin Sweeney in the Club from 9.30pm each Sunday Night upto before the awards night. There will be more details of the awards night through our website and other social media outlets and in this column.dn_screen

Last year our Activ8 programme of events was very popular which brought in more members and resulted in a huge amount of activity in the weeks leading up to Easter. This popular event will be run again this year in the run up to Easter. Given Easter is later this year we hope the weather will not be as inclement as it was last year. Please watch this column and our website for further updates.
