Castle Ward Book Fair Moves Into New Chapter

Castle Ward’s Annual Book Fair returns this year on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June (11am-5pm).

Come along to the book Fair at Castleward.
Come along to the book Fair at Castle Ward.

This ever popular event has been a fixture in the calendar at Castle Ward for several years. This year has seen the book fair brought forward from November to June. To coincide with the Book Fair being moved we have added activities for children and adults to celebrate all things literature.

As usual there will be thousands of quality used books to browse through in your search for a great bargain. This is an excellent opportunity for bibliophiles to add to their own shelves as a plethora of books are on offer from children’s titles and biographies, to DIY favourites and all time classics. Visitors can also bargain hunt for old vinyl and CDs.

Families can try our first ever Book Themed Family Trail where they will solve clues and try and add items for their picnic along the way. On the trail we will have various characters dressed up as characters from some of our favourite books so there will be an opportunity for children and maybe some adults to meet some familiar faces. Why not join in the fun and come dressed as your favourite character? On arrival at the Barn, children can enjoy their picnic with the white rabbit and then afterwards head upstairs to try making some book themed crafts.

Our Castle Ward creative writing group will return on Sunday 12 June after much success last year.

The ‘Words for Castle Ward’ group will have more readings inspired by the demesne and will run a workshop on writing that visitors can get involved in.

The magnificent mansion is open along with the gift shop and tea room. With the Woodland and Adventure playgrounds and crafts in the barn, it will be a great day out for all of the family.

Normal admission charges apply for entry into the demesne, National Trust members are free on production of their cards. For further information or to make book donations to the Book Fair please contact Castle Ward directly on 028 4488 1204 or visit our website:
