Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Mickey Coogan commented: “In an increasingly competitive marketplace local businesses must explore all opportunities available to them in helping promote and develop their business.  The summer networking BBQ is an ideal platform for both seasoned networkers and those who are new to making business connections in this way.

“I would encourage all businesses located in the district to consider tapping into the business support which is open to them through the Beyond programme and don’t forget to bring along your business cards/details.

“There is no cost to attend the networking BBQ but registration is essential, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.”

Mark Bleakney, Invest Northern Ireland’s Southern Regional Office Manager also said: “Starting, running and growing a business can be a tough, lonely job. It takes time and effort to find sales, generate income and find new opportunities. Networking events like this provide businesses with an opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs and talk about the issues and problems they face.”

“I know it’s not always easy to find time to attend these events but I believe that business networking can be a valuable source of advice and support to help keep businesses on track. They can also bring direct benefits to companies such as client leads, partnership and funding opportunities or straight forward sales leads.”

The Beyond business programme has a strong network of over 370 individuals signed up to its website from over 320 businesses. It is a flexible business support programme and network matching the business needs of local businesses to relevant support including networking opportunities.

Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis so don’t miss this opportunity for a chance to
