SINN Féin councillor Stephen Burns has written to Danske Bank requesting that they carry out repairs outside their former Castlewellan branch building in the Lower Square area of the town.

“This particular road is not adopted by Roads Service and it is therefore the responsibility of Danske Bank, as the owners of the building, to repair the potholes.
“I have written to the company formally requesting that they carry out these repairs. Whilst I understand the building is no longer in use by the bank, I believe the onus is on them, as the owners to ensure that public safety is paramount in the vicinity of their building. Not only for the general public but also for themselves, who would be held responsible if an accident were to occur as a result of the poor state of the road.”
