Well done to the 16’s who did very well to overcome a talented St. John’s side. A GAA match played in an impeccable sporting manor with both sides showing respect to their talented opposition writes Cyril McKinney.

Stand out performances from Man of the Match Adam Mc Cabe who linked up well with Daire Mclaughlin. The two boys were on fire up top with great passing and link up play. Lee Murphy, Riain Burns, Kyle Broggy, Cillian Burns were unstoppable in a diamond shape middle of the park.

Diabhi Ennis, Jack laverty, James Byrne were magnificent in the half back line getting the ball up the field quickly. Ross Torney, Danny Mc Crissican were solid at the back. Leaving Aidan Mc Evoy not much to do. But his quick precise kick-outs started our quick attack. McEvoy then came out of the nets to get himself a lovey point. Which saw Murphy going in and his kick outs which reached over the half which any senior keeper would be proud off!

St. John’s never give up and kept plugging away from start to finish, every score they had came from good team play and caused the Bright boys trouble.
Lee Murphy 0-3
Adam Mc Cabe 1-3
Riain Burns 3-2
Kyle Broggy 0-2
Daire Mc Laughlin 3-0
Daibhi Ennis 0-2
Cillian Burns 0-1.
Aidan McEvoy 0-1

Well done to St Joseph’s PS, Killough. GAA team who reached the semi finals of today’s Pat Watterson Memorial Tournament at St Malachy’s P.S. Kilclief.
St Joseph’s were pitted in Group B against St Malachy’s P.S. Kilclief and St Joseph’s P.S. Ballycruttle.

They won both their games with some excellent points and goals being scored and topped the group which brought them through to a semi final with St Joseph’s PS, Strangford.

This semi-final was nip and tuck all the way with Killough leading by a point at half-time. However, Strangford came roaring back into the contest and a few late goals saw them through to the final against St Patrick’s P.S. Saul.

Congratulations to Saul who were the overall winners and a massive thank you to Mr Michael McGarrity from St Malachy’s PS, Kilclief for his organisation of the tournament
