Downpatrick Library’s Heritage Gallery invites you to a series of lunchtime PRONI (Public Record Office of Northern Ireland) talks:
On Wednesday 9 October at 1.00pm, Stephen Scarth, Head of Public Services at PRONI, will kick off the series with Online Records, a talk covering the many applications useful for family and local history available on PRONI’s website with expert hints and tips on how to get the most from your searches.
The second talk on Wednesday 14 November at 1.00pm, Ian Montgomery’s talk on World War sources at PRONI will examine accounts of individuals who participated in the war. The library’s County Down Heritage Collection includes an illustrated eight volume set of Ireland’s Memorial Records, compiled by the Committee of the Irish National War memorial.
The series will close with a talk on Wednesday 4 December at 1.00pm by Dr Ann McVeigh. This talk on workhouses will explore information held by PRONI including Board of Guardian records and how you can use them for your own local and family history.
Admission to these events is free and everyone is welcome but booking is essential.
