ALLIANCE xa0Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed the installation of a new purpose Bike Rack recently installed near the Market House in Upper Square, Castlewellan.
Councillor Clarke had raised the issue of Council installing Bike Racks in Castlewellan following requests from a number of local businesses and the opening of the Mountain Bike Trails at Castlewellan Forest Park.
Councillor Clarke said:xa0″I am very pleased after months of lobbying on behalf of local businesses that Down District Council have now finally installed a new purpose Bike Rack outside Market House in Castlewellan.
“The main concern from local businesses was people leaving their bikes outside buildings such as coffee shops or hospitality outlets which had no bike rack provision.”
“I xa0raised the matter with Building and Estates committee to investigate the possibility of installing bike racks in Castlewellan.”
“I am confident that the new purpose Bike Rack installed near the Market House in Castlewellan will be a safe open space for people to secure their bikes when visiting Castlewellan.”]]>
