Downpatrick Audience In Stitches By History of The Troubles Comedy Show
The hilarious ‘A History of the Troubles (accordin’ to my Da) showed at the Down Arts Centre last Friday evening (3rd February).
It sold out to a packed audience who revelled in the quick fire wit of the comic genius of Conor Grimes, Martin Maquire and Alan McKee who performed the play.
Martin Maguire played ‘Da’ who reminisces about the Troubles and Conor Grimes and Alan McKee play the roles of many the many characters that emerge in this one hour 30 minute masterpiece written by well-known playwright, Martin Lynch.
The play goes through Gerry Courtney’s struggle to maintain his sanity in a world of historic chaos.
The frenetic action is a laugh-a-minute comedy portraying the Northern Irish Troubles (accordin’ to my Da!).
The show has been see by over 100,000 people so far and is still on the road going well playing to full houses.
It has shown in Dublin and London and has appeared at the Grand Opera House an incredible 8 times!
The content was certainly for the consumption of adults and ‘only an eejit would miss it!’.
