‘Autumn time, red leaves fall While the weeping sky looks over all. Demeter sadly walks the land, the dying grasses in Her hand’
“This is a lovely new round for autumn which I’m teaching over the next few weeks”… Laura Plummer.Laura, the driving force behind Voices of Lecale, the Downpatrick-based folk group, said: “Our new CD is called ‘Voyages: Songs of the Sea’ and had a great launch party at Downpatrick Golf Club on Monday 7 October. We have sold around 150 copies so far now and our first on-line customer was Marie Dijkstra from the Netherlands who bought a copy on the first day !

I am listening over and over and beginning to hear more. It’s lovely, your choir is very good! Declan and William are of course brilliant on all the instruments they are playing…..and so are the other musicians!
“I love the sound of your concertina, very good in the Drunken Sailor Set!! And the Sleepless Sailor. Vem kan Segla is beautiful, and I especially like The Water is Wide… I already saw William’s Turn of the Tide video last week and it made me shiver.”
Laura added: “A big thank-you to Elaine and everyone at the Golf Club for making us so welcome, and to our special guests Fil Campbell and Tom McFarland, to Willie, Dan and Decky and to everyone who came along on the night. The room was quite jammed! Many bought CD’s and gave us such great support.“And huge thanks to all the people who have bought copies from me – really appreciated! Please tell your friends about the CD – on sale at Down Arts Centre, the Voices of Lecale website and from members of the choir. Makes a great Christmas pressie and helps a very worthwhile charity, PIPS.”
