The Voices Of Lecale, a local folk choir, are making their finishing touches just before their next CD recording.
Choir leader and folksinger Laura Plummer has called all of the singers to a penultimate practice to get their voices honed into shape at the St Patrick Centre from 11-1pm on Saturday.
Laura said: “The anser to improving is just constantly practising to get better. The group has come a long way since we launched our last CD ‘Voyages’ in 2013. It was a very successful fundraiser for charity for the Alzheimers Society.
“The recording of the CD will take place at the An Cuan centre in Rostrevor on Saturday 8th October and we are all looking forward to it greatly. We just have a wee bit of fine tuning to do but everyone is ready for the big day.
“Music is a major part of what we do and our members will be going along to the Bjorn Identity Abba tribute night at the Newcastle Community Cinema which is part of the summer season entertainments.
“And just on an Olympic theme, the pop tune The Girl from Ipanema was the second most recorded pop song next to the Beatle’s ‘Yesterday‘. A super number!”
And Laura added, they are still looking for male members to join them.
