Police in Downpatrick have arrested two men following a burglary in The Meadows last night on Wednesday 2 March.
At around 10pm police received a report of two males forcing entry to a house. The males were disturbed and made off on foot after stealing house and car keys . The males made their way to a white Volkswagen Golf car and drove off. The car was found abandoned on Ballintogher Road.
The Police helicopter, Dog Support and TSG provided assistance to local officers and a man was observed in fields between Ballintogher Road and St Patrick’s Road. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary.
A 44-year old man was later arrested during the early hours of this morning, 3 March, in Downpatrick.
The 35 and 44 year old men are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

We are always more successful in tackling crime when we work together. I would like to thank the public who provided information to us and helped us locate these males.”
