Staff in the physiotherapy department at the Ulster Hospital have released a statement following the tragic death of the beloved colleague Lynette Rodgers (nee Reilly) on her honeymoon in South Africa. Her husband John also lost his life in the dangerous rip currents just off their honeymoon beach.
The close knit team has been devastated by the news. They spent time together this morning with their managers. At this meeting they arranged for a tribute to be left in the sea in South Africa, and they penned the attached reflection below on their colleague which they released to the media.
On behalf of the physiotherapist staff at the Trust, the statement said: “It is with great sadness we lost a dear friend and colleague Lynette at the weekend. We want to express our sincere sympathy to both Lynette and John’s family circle.
“Lynette has worked in the South Eastern HSC Trust for over two years, and in other trusts prior to that.
“Lynette was one of the most kind, and gracious physiotherapists that everyone had the pleasure of working with. She was cheerful, loved her work and was kind and compassionate to her patients. Lynette always made time, even when busy to help and support colleagues.
“Outside of work Lynette loved life and participated in all the social activities with her colleagues.
“Colleagues and friends in work are deeply affected by the great loss of a dear friend, she will be very sadly missed.”
