Survive This Winter With Down District Council’s ‘Think Energy Save Money’ Road Show
DOWN District Council is hosting a ‘Think Energy Save Money’ initiative from Monday 7 to Friday 11 October 2013.

The week-long campaign will comprise of energy related seminars, workshops and events held across the district culminating with an information Road Show which will be held in the Downshire Civic Centre, Ardglass Road on Friday 11 October.
Speaking at the launch, Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Maria McCarthy said: “Households have been under more and more strain in recent years with rising energy prices and lower incomes, and Down District Council wants to help.
“Many people in the district, especially vulnerable adults, are in the dark about rising energy costs and are worried about their bills especially in the run-up to winter. That’s why we feel it is important to educate and assist so that our citizens can make informed decisions when it comes to switching energy providers and or saving energy.”
Councilor McCarthy added: “Energy experts will be at the Downshire Civic Centre on Friday 11 October to offer guidance and advice on simple ways of reducing your home energy usage, insulation, energy efficient lighting, renewable technology including solar, photovoltaic, biomass, heat pumps and more plus information on grant schemes will be available for home energy improvements.”
Down District Council’s Building and Estates Committee Chairman, Councillor Dessie Patterson also commented: “I hope lots of people will visit the Road Show and have a chat with the experts about ways to keep their fuel bills down and how to keep themselves warm and healthy.”
