[caption id="attachment_32374" align="alignleft" width="360"] Strangford MP Jim Shannon has sent out his Christmas message.[/caption]He added: “I love this time of year. It brings me great joy to see the hustle and bustle of Newtownards and other areas at this time. It is lovely to receive a Christmas card from a friend you haven’t seen in years, or to see people chatting happily on the street in between messages.
“Christmas is such a lovely time for friends and family but we must also remember those without friends and family. I was greatly touched when I heard that a team at Newtownards Elim were providing Christmas dinner at the church for those who don’t have anyone to spend Christmas dinner with. The dinner is being served at around 2pm followed by some games and fellowship. If you would like to be a part of this then you should contact Davy on 07783232681 more information.
“We also have the foodbank doing a great job in giving Christmas packages – easing the burdens of families throughout the area and again there are Churches playing their part in delivering groceries. It is just heart-warming to feel and see the sense of community at work here and this really is the meaning of Christmas – showing the Love of God. Let us not forget in the hustle and bustle and in the parties and gatherings that it is the time when God gave His Son as the most precious of gifts to all who will receive.
“Whilst Jesus is the most precious gift this season, here are some last minute gifts that we can all afford to give –
* To your enemy, forgiveness.
* Â To an opponent, tolerance.
* Â To all, charity.
* Â To a friend, your heart
* Â To every child, a good example.
* Â To yourself, respect.
“Again, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and God’s richest blessing upon you and your family.”
