St Bronagh's GAC Notes For Sunday 14 December 2014

Awards Night 2014

St Bronagh’s Social Club was packed on what was a cold and blustery last Friday night. However the harsh weather conditions did not deter the Rostrevor Club members and invited guests from enjoying what turned out to be a very memorable night writes Mark Gibbons.

Compere for the evening was the ever professional Gloria Mulholland. Guests of honour were; Rostrevor Seconds Panel and Management Team, winners of the Premier Reserve Championship and Panel Members of the Down Ladies All Ireland Winning Team Clara Mulvenna, Katie Farrell and Emma McPolin. Also recognised on the night were the Thirds Team & Management of Paddy McAvoy and Paul Cole who won the Fr. Davis Shield.

dn_screenFrom start to finish the night was very entertaining, with great speeches from award winners, Chairman and from the guest speaker Tony Scullion. Tony stole the show at the end of the night with his inspirational talk on his past, present and what he wanted to see for Rostrevor GAA in the not too distant future. Tony spoke with passion and honesty and he was most certainly taken aback by the standing ovation from the St Bronaghs faithful.

Our thanks to Ciaran Sloan, Kathleen McNally and Mark Gibbons for organising a very successful night. To Gloria Mulholland for conducting the evening so smoothly, to our inspirational Guest Speaker Tony Scullion and to all our award winners on the night! Down GAA Clubs Draw 2015

In 2012, the GAA in Down came together to launch a major fundraising initiative- The Down GAA Clubs Draw. To date the draw has raised well over one Million for the GAA family in Down – for the clubs of Down. With a prize fund of £110,000, the draw allows our clubs to host a major draw without the individual worry of providing a major prize fund.

The Down GAA Club draw will commence on Sat Feb 7th 2015, with the second draw taking place on the 25th Feb and every month thereafter on the 25th, with the exception of December when Santa arrives early for a Super Draw on Sun 13th. The draw will be held at a public event each month at different venues each month. The total prize fund for the draw is £110,000. Tickets cost £120,00 or D.D. payment of £10 per month commencing 25-01-15 and thereafter 3rd monthly (D.D. Service User number: 960423). Cheques for full payment must be made payable to: Down GAA Clubs Draw. Draw results will appear on the Down GAA website (www.downgaa.net) and all Down secretaries will be notified in the week following the draw. Results will also be published on the Irish News.

Each club in Down is guaranteed a £200.00 in a Special Clubs Draw, which will take place on a monthly basis. Patrons who pay £120.00 in full before the draw commences will be entered into a Special draw for 5 prizes of £200.00. The decision of the Draw Organisers, Coiste Contae An Duin is final on all matter. Any further info can be obtained from www.clubsdraw.down@gaa.ie

Married v Singles 2014

The annual Married v Singles match will take place on Sunday 28th December at 3pm. Will the married folk manage to muster a victory or will the singles extend their unbeaten run? With one or two players switching sides from last year and the captain of the singles playing his last game for the side (if he’s not injured!) it should prove to be another interesting spectacle this year!! If you are interested in playing for the Married team, contact Martin Daly 07522685106, or for the Singles contact Conor Magee 07747331995 or Richie Reynolds 07595034660.
