SINN Féin have secured a re-surfacing scheme due to take place across Ardglass before the Summer period begins.
The news comes following a recent walkabout in Ardglass with Roads Service staff, facilitated by South Down Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard.
Mr Hazzard welcomed the planned work and said: “I would like to thank staff who acted commendably by ensuring all the issues raised are to be included in the scheme. He also paid tribute to staff for beginning work on a footpath along the Downpatrick Road area which he said was a major campaign for the party given concerns about pedestrian safety along this stretch of road particularly leading up to St Nicholas ‘ Primary School. Councillor Liam Johnston said the re-surfacing scheme would include areas in Crew Hill estate and Meadowcourt, as well as areas across the centre of the village. He said: “This work will improve the quality of road conditions in Ardglass whilst improving the general appearance of the village. Footpaths along the Downpatrick Road have been a much needed addition to the area and I welcome the work of Roads Service in working with us to secure it.” ]]>
