STRANGFORD MP Jim Shannon (DUP) has welcomed the funding for derelict buildings for Ards.
He said: “It is fantastic news that Ards Borough Council have been succesful in securing funding for derelict buildings in places such as Court Street which used to be a thriving area of the town and has now become somewhat drab.
“This funding of £111 000 will go some way in making a difference to the streets and in addition to the public realm funding that has been allocated, things are looking up for Newtownards town as well as comber and Donaghadee.
“We have managed to buck the trend by having new shops open in the town and this will hopefully make the town more attractive and allows more visitors to see just what we have to offer. My sincere congratulations to all those involved in bidding for this funding – the town thanks you.!”
