Jim Shannon, MP for Strangford, has highlighted the magnificent church build project for Portaferry Presbyterian Church.
[caption id="attachment_39811" align="alignleft" width="390"] Work at the Portaferry Presbyterian Church, centre,  has been praised by Jim Shannon MP.[/caption]He said: “In a supplementary Question to the Church Commissioner, Sir Tony Baldry, in Westminster regarding the upkeep of historic churches, I mentioned the Friends of Portaferry Presbyterian Church Portaferry and their wonderful historic church and the success of their application for grant funding from the Big Lottery for almost £900 000.
“These monies enabled that beautiful church to be refurbished and retained and restored to its former glory. It was further suggested that the Church Commission should contact the Big Lottery Grant Scheme to enable the churches on the mainland to do the same.
“Truly Portaferry Presbyterian Church has led the way on securing much funding for their church and the finished and completed church building will be a beautiful church, that is active in the community and will quickly become an integral part of community life in the village of Portaferry and will attract many tourists to the area.”
