Ballygowan and District Community Association service to commemorate the end of World War I.
Jim Shannon MP for Strangford has congratulated and thanked Ballygowan District Community Association for organising the service to commemorate the end of World War I.
He said: “Rev Ivan Linton, Chaplain to Her Majesty’s Services RIR and local clergymen, took part and the Orange and Black preceptor and other local groups were there including the cadets Royal Irish with pipers. Ii was a very poignant occasion and a time to recall those who fought and died in World War I.
“Twenty people from Ballygowan lost their lives in the war. There wouldn’t have been a village or town in County Down that would not have been touched by the loss of a loved one. This was a wonderful event to remind us that truly for our tomorrows they gave theirs today.”
