SERC Quality Assured For Higher Education

SERC commended by quality assurance agency for Higher Education.

Following a rigorous two-day inspection by an independent external assessor, South Eastern Regional College has been commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) for the quality of their Higher Education provision.

The report identified several good practice areas and the review team made no recommendations for action.  This is unusual, with only 16% of universities or colleges receiving no recommendations in the period from 2017 to 2018.

QAA have concluded with confidence that the academic standards at SERC are reliable, meet UK requirements, and are reasonably comparable with standards set and achieved in other providers in the UK.

The QAA review team formed the following judgements about the Higher Education provision at SERC:

*  There can be confidence that academic standards are reliable, meet UK requirements, and are reasonably comparable with standards set and achieved in other providers in the UK.

*  There can be confidence that the quality of the student academic experience meets baseline regulatory requirements.

*  The review team did not identify any areas for development.

*  The review team did not identify any specified improvements.

SERC Principal and chief executive Ken Webb said “We are delighted that our HE provisions, which offers small class sizes, one-to-one support and a real alternative to university, has been commended by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

“We strive to ensure that students are equipped with every possible opportunity to succeed and this result is a well-deserved testament to the hard work of staff and students. We are committed to providing a world class education to ambitious young people and this review is a hallmark which enables us to illustrate just that. With the growing costs of university tuition fees, it is vital that ambitious young people wishing to obtain higher level qualifications are aware of the range of options available to help them and that Further Education offers a real alternative for them, right here on their doorstep.”

The review took place in June and was carried out by staff and students from other providers.
