SOUTH Down MP Margaret Ritchie (SDLP) and Down District Councillor Dermot Curran are pursuing an improvement scheme at the Belfast Road/Annacloy Road, Downpatrick.
Ms Ritchie said: “After contact with Roads Service, I am pleased that work is progressing to develop one of a number of high level design options for this busy junction. Roads Service has indicated that a preferred option has been identified and will be developed taking account of road safety and integrated transport objectives.
I will be monitoring this scheme so that it can be included in an upcoming Works Programme to ensure enhanced safety at this location”.
Councillor Curran added, “ I am pleased the Roads Service is now in a position to move forward with a solution to this dangerous junction and along with Margaret Ritchie MP, I will be working to ensure no delays in implementing this project.
