Saintfield United Welcome In New Soccer Season

Saintfield ready for the new season with fresh players aboard

Saintfield United begin their 2024/25 season on Saturday 3 August at home to Wellington Rec in Round 1 of the Steel & Sons Cup and are relishing their first clash of the new 2024-25 season.

Manager Craig Bowman is beginning his third season in charge of the NAFL 1C team, and has added a number of new players to his squad over the summer with the aim of improving on last season’s eighth placed finish.

The Saintfield fist team ready to take on the NAFL IC league.

Centre-half Clint Thompson has joined from Castlederg United, forward Naseem Ouldhamlat has signed from Ballynahinch United.

Also, Lewis Patmore has rerurned from a short spell at Comber YM, goalkeeper Harry Kinnear has signed from Derriaghy CC FC, and youngsters Frazer Martin and Mark Moore have signed from Ards U20s. 

In terms of departures, the usual seasonal musical chairs, Paul Dickson and Ross Murray have both left the club, signing for Ballynahinch Olympic and Ballynahinch United respectively, and Luke Martin has moved to Downshire YM.

After their opening fixture in the Steel and Sons Cup, the Saints begin their NAFL 1C season away to Bloomfield FC on Wednesday 7 August, before hosting Cookstown Youth at home in the Irish Cup on Saturday 10 August.
